The C100R Jolting Volumeter, Standard Model, is a single-station rotating and tapping instrument. It determines the bulk density of dried milk by ISO 8967 | IDF 134, Dried milk and dried milk products — Determination of bulk density. It has a 4.3-inch touch display and a built-in receipt printer. Results are expressed to 0.001 g/mL and can be exported as Excel or PDF.
The method applies to dried whole milk, dried partly skimmed milk and dried skimmed milk, whether instant or non-instant. It also applies to dried whey, dried buttermilk and dried milk-based infant food, and to the same products when milk fat has been replaced by another fat or when the product has been roller-dried instead of spray-dried.
Bulk density is the mass of the test portion divided by its volume under the stated conditions. The unit is grams per millilitre (g/mL).
The calculation is ρ = m / V. m is the mass of the test portion weighed on a balance, and V is the cylinder reading at the corresponding number of taps. The test portion is not weighed on this instrument. The test portion is 100.0 g ± 0.1 g. If 100 g does not fit into the cylinder, use 50.0 g ± 0.1 g.
Before the determination, bring the laboratory sample to 20 °C to 25 °C, mix it, and then weigh it and transfer it to the cylinder. Mix instant dried milk gently so that the particles are not broken.

| Tapping action | Rotating and tapping |
| Tap frequency | 250±15 taps/min |
| Drop height | 3 mm ± 0.1 mm |
| Number of taps | 100 taps (ρ₁₀₀) and 625 taps (ρ₆₂₅). The 625 taps include the first 100. Tapping stops automatically at the preset count |
| Measuring cylinder | Capacity 250 mL |
| Test portion | 100.0 g ± 0.1 g, or 50.0 g ± 0.1 g if 100 g does not fit |
| Result | g/mL, expressed to 0.001 g/mL |
| Method repeatability | The absolute difference between two single results, obtained by the same operator with the same instrument on identical material in the same laboratory within a short interval, shall not be greater than 0.025ρ g/mL. ρ is the arithmetic mean of the two results |
| Method reproducibility | The absolute difference between two single results, obtained in different laboratories with different operators and different instruments on identical material, shall not be greater than 0.04ρ g/mL. ρ is the arithmetic mean of the two results |
| Power supply | AC 110/220 V, 50/60 Hz |
Method repeatability and method reproducibility are the precision of ISO 8967 | IDF 134. They are not the factory specification of an individual instrument.
Before a determination, confirm that the drop height and tap frequency are within the tolerances above. Weigh the test portion on a balance with a scale interval of 0.1 g or smaller.
The table shows the report fields and the calculation only. The volumes are assumed values, not a measurement of a milk-powder lot.

A formal report also identifies the sample and records any operating detail that is not specified in the method and that may have influenced the result.
