F100 Scott Volumeter

Category:

The F100 Scott volumeter is designed and manufactured to GB/T 1479.2-2011. It is used to measure the bulk density of powder by the Scott volumeter method.

Scope and principle

Scope Designed to GB/T 1479.2-2011. Used to measure the bulk density of powder by the Scott volumeter method.
Principle Measure the mass of powder that completely fills a cup of known volume in the loose state. Powder passes a series of inclined baffles in the Scott volumeter before filling the cup. Bulk density is expressed as mass divided by volume.

Apparatus

Funnel Two conical funnels assembled together, with a 1.18 mm metal sieve between them.
Baffle box Square-section baffles. Four baffles are held in side grooves and can be removed for cleaning. They break up the powder stream and slow the flow. Powder must not pass between the upper edge of a baffle and the box; the lower edges should overlap slightly in the vertical direction.
Stand and vibration-free base Supports the cup, baffle box and funnel.
Balance (optional) Sufficient capacity, readable to ±0.05 g.
Density cup Stainless steel (304) cup of 25 mL ±0.05 mL, inner diameter 30 mm ±1 mm.

Test procedure

  • A. Place powder on the funnel sieve with a spoon so that it passes the baffle box and fills the cup until it overflows;
  • B. If the powder does not pass the sieve freely, brush it through with a soft brush;
  • C. After overflow, level the cup with a stainless steel plate without compacting or carrying powder out, and without shaking or vibrating the cup;
  • D. After leveling, tap the wall lightly so the powder settles and is not lost when moving the cup. The outer surface must be free of powder;
  • E. Weigh the metal powder in the cup to 0.05 g. Carry out the measurement on three samples.
